Gabriel Reflects on Painful CL Final Miss

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has opened up on the "painful" experience of missing the decisive penalty in the Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian center back saw his effort fly over the bar in Budapest, handing PSG their second consecutive European title despite Arsenal's dream start with Kai Havertz finding the net after just six minutes. Despite the personal heartbreak, Gabriel expressed pride in the Gunners' historic season that ended a 22-year drought to secure the Premier League title.

Speaking on Instagram, the defender wrote: "It's painful, but I'm proud of this team and everything we achieved together this season. Thank you to our incredible fans for your support every step of the way." Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed Gabriel volunteered to take the fifth penalty after primary specialists were unavailable following 120 minutes of action. afnews.co.za
